German review on GosuReviews I was a bit disappointed after having read so many good reviews by a lot people about this book. It just didn't work for me. The military slang Myke Cole used, really displayed his military background and was something different and gave the whole action scenes a very realistic touch, but I found myself oftentimes lost with all the acronyms constantly used, especially when I put the book away for a few days. What was a FOB,MAC,SOC or ATTD again? A glossary would have been useful maybe. The action and pacing was very solid and well written, but I found that his writing style didn't work for me in the nonaction scenes and the characters were very stereotypical. The world building wasvery well done, I love the way he did it, similar to Daniel Suarez. Just a little info dump in the beginning of the chapter disguised in excerpts of manuals or letters. The premise of the book was promising, but could have been delivered in a better story, it felt often times like a predictable action movie. Keeping in mind that it was his debut, I think I will give the next book in the series a try, to see if it gets any better.
