"I don't always love to think about all the tiny pieces of me that add up to make a whole person. I feel concerned that too many of the pieces have something a bit wrong with them." This is the story of two queer siblings and their eccentric Māori-Russian-Catalonian family. I didn't know I needed a living with a beloved sibling and knowing that it will end soon because you're both in love and wanting it, but not wanting it and being heartbroken and happy at the same time plot. This book only had one flaw: it had a thousand characters and all of them fell under the same family tree and most of their names started with a G and there were two Gretas. It was genuinely hard to keep them straight even with flipping back to the beginning multiple times. To make it even more complicated there are two POVs throughout the book, but in the final pages of the book it descended into tons of POVs. Otherwise this is perfect: funny, characterdriven (so basically no plot), just vibes. Memorable characters, lots of jokes, generational humor and pop culture references without being annoying. What a stunning debut!
