"Morgan Rice's imagination is limitless. In another series that promises to be as entertaining as the previous ones, A THRONE OF SISTERS presents us with the tale of two sisters (Sophia and Kate), orphans, fighting to survive in a cruel and demanding world of an orphanage. An instant success. I can hardly wait to put my hands on the second and third books!"--Books and Movie Reviews (Roberto Mattos)From #1 Bestseller Morgan Rice comes an unforgettable new fantasy series. In A THRONE FOR SISTERS (Book one), Sophia, 17, and her younger sister Kate, 15, are desperate to leave their horrific orphanage. Orphans, unwanted and unloved, they nonetheless dream of coming of age elsewhere, of finding a better life, even if that means living on the streets of the brutal city of Ashton.Sophia and Kate, also best friends, have each other’s backs—and yet they want different things from life. Sophia, a romantic, more elegant, dreams of entering court and finding a noble to fall in love with. Kate, a fighter, dreams of mastering the sword, of battling dragons, and becoming a warrior. They are both united, though, by their secret, paranormal power to read other’s minds, their only saving grace in a world that seems bent to destroy them.As they each embark on a quest and adventure their own ways, they struggle to survive. Faced with choices neither can imagine, their choices may propel them to the highest power—or plunge them to the lowest depths.A THRONE FOR SISTERS is the first book in a dazzling new fantasy series rife with love, heartbreak, tragedy, action, magic, sorcery, fate and heart-pounding suspense. A page turner, it is filled with characters that will make you fall in love, and a world you will never forget.Book #2—A COURT FOR THIEVES—is also now available!"[A THRONE FOR SISTERS is a] powerful opener to a series [that] will produce a combination of feisty protagonists and challenging circumstances to thoroughly involve not just young adults, but adult fantasy fans who seek epic stories fueled by powerful friendships and adversaries."--Midwest Book Review (Diane Donovan)

Great story, well read, abrupt ending, but there's always book 2 :)

First: I do recognize that this is (I believe) YA and therefore I am not the target group as I am an adult woman. This book very much reads like a typical YA book (which I do not like, so for YA fans: maybe take this review with a grain of salt). The book had way too many plot holes (example: veery minor <spoiler> It was said that Kate could not swim, when she tried to reach the boat, just a few pages later, she suddenly swims through the current to the side of the river??? Make it make sense. </spoiler> or another one: def bigger <spoiler> I am seriously meant to believe, that from all those things Sophia stole for the ball, not one single noble recognized their own stuff they bought for the ball? Like the dress gets explained, but one of these items should be something someone explicitly wanted to look a certain way and therefore be recognizable! </spoiler>) and it was a bit cringey. The characters felt hollow and even after the first half of the book, I could not connect to any of them. The romance was just not for me, both couples (as I understand the main couples meant to be) had this "love at first sight", which I am not a fan of either. And again, I'm meant to believe that <spoiler> Sophia and Sebastian were in LOVE after talking for 2 minutes? Like, that is a crush at best, not love. </spoiler>Just overall, this book is not for me and when reading through the description of the 2nd and 3rd book, I don't think series is worth it (for me personally).
