I loved this book so much.

I got hooked onto Dune after watching the second movie in the cinema. I immediately bought the first three Dune books and the first one was just so great. ☺️ Looking forward to reading Dune Messiah!

Ganz viel Liebe.

Habe jetzt tatsächlich recht lange an diesem Buch gesessen, aber jede Seite genossen. Dune hat so viele Elemente, die ich liebe: politische Intrigen, verschiedene Adelshäuser spielen sich gegenseitig aus, religiösen Fanatiker und wunderbares world building. Werde die Reihe auf jeden Fall weiterlesen.

Unerwartet gut und kurzweilig. Tatsächlich passiert so viel, dass es kaum unnötige Beschreibungen oder ähnliches gibt.

Nachdem ich den zweiten Film zwei Mal im Kino geguckt habe, war klar, dass ich das Buch lesen muss 🫣 und was soll ich sagen? Es hat mich eingenommen und ich konnte es nicht mehr aus der Hand legen — kein Wunder, dass “Dune” als DAS Science Fiction-Werk schlechthin gehandelt wird. Und obwohl ich die Filme kannte, waren dennoch ein paar Überraschungen mit dabei. Also: riesige Leseempfehlung und neues Lieblingsbuch 🤍

Das hier braucht eigentlich keine Einführung, weil jeder Dune kennt, oder zumindest Sachen, die Dune erfunden hat. Quasi Star wars vor Star wars.

Ich habe das Buch nochmal gelesen, weil ich heute den neuen Film gucke. Ist echt wild, wie viele der Fantasy bzw science fiction Konvention von diesem Buch herkommen. Ich habe aber das Gefühl die Geschichte ist halt noch nicht vorbei. Ist eigentlich auch sehr offensichtlich, weil es noch ganz viele andere Bücher in der Reihe gibt. So die Geschichte von Paul hat gerade erst wirklich begonnen. Die Charaktere sind echt cool und echt sehr viele verschiedene Charaktere mit verschiedenen Motivationen, aber so liebenswürdig sind sie alle nicht wirklich. Alles im allem würde ich es auf jeden Fall empfehlen aber sei gewarnt, es ist halt etwas älter.

Fantasywwelt. Spannend. Eigene Sprache und Nomenklatur.

Tough yet enjoyable

Its almost impossible for me to describe this book in few and simple words, having seen the movies first. So I will be comparing them. The book focusses mostly on politics and economics, while the movies take much more time exploring the various characters and also Pauls struggle to accept his fate and the terrible future that may lay ahead. The cuts and changes in the films also where a good choice, greatly improving the otherwise slow and sometimes tedious pacing of the plot. My recommendation would be to watch the movies first. However the universe of dune remains a wonderfully mysterious one, and the book manages to convey the complex politics as well as religions and economics in a much more understandable way than the films do. It can be a quite tough read though at times, nonethelss one that I enjoyed quite much.
