Unable to shift into his wolf form for three months, Mateo Cruz knows all too well. His wolf alter ego has taken up residence in his head, taunting him night and day with vividly violent and carnal thoughts. Convinced he’s been cursed, he seeks the help of a powerful witch to undo it . . . before he literally goes insane.
Evie Savoie has always obeyed the house rules of her coven—no werewolves. They’re known for being moody and volatile. So, when a quick-tempered werewolf strolls into the bar and almost strangles one of her late-night customers, she’s ready to bounce him. But her heart softens when she sees the desperation in his eyes as he begs for her help. Maybe she can bend the rules, just this once.
What Evie doesn’t know is that Mateo’s wolf has a mind of his own. And now that she’s in his sights, he wants only one thing. Her.
The first book in the Stay a Spell series by Juliette Cross, Wolf Gone Wild is a steamy, slow-burn werewolf romance book filled with magic, shifters, and spice. This irresistible paranormal romance series following the intertwining lives of a New Orleans coven is perfect for fans of Jessica Clare books, The Ex Hex, and other witch romance books.

Reread (1.
I need to reread this soon. Why? Because I let myself be fooled by reviews. I’m picky when it comes to reading and I like spoiling myself just a little bit. And I read a review saying the book was great until about 50% when it became dulled and uninteresting. And so I read, loving what I was reading, waiting for the other shoe to drop. And it didn’t. I’m not invalidating that other reviewer, it’s just that the book worked really well for me. I have no complaints. Except that I read, waiting for it to turn bad when it didn’t and I was almost disappointed to the final battle. Anyways, this is the story of Mateo, a werewolf who finds himself under a hex, making him unable to shift. The side effect of this hex is that his wolf, Alpha, is now very much a presence in his head and talks to him, making him slowly go mad. So he seeks the help of a hex-breaker from the most powerful family of witch in the state, Evie. The plot begins by revolving around 2 things: the fact that Jules, Evie’s older sister and clan chief doesn’t usually accept to help werewolf, which isn’t a problem very long, and the fact that Mateo finds himself and his wolf in particular, calmed by the presence of Evie, and he strikes a deal with her: they’ll hang out 4 hours a day so he can work in peace, without Alpha overtaking his thoughts. This book was awesome, the characters were well fleshed out, I could distinguish all of Evie’s sisters very quickly after being introduced to them. Mateo is a lone wolf, and it’s explained in the book and everything makes sense. He’s patient and caring and funny. I laughed out loud at some of his interaction with Alpha, they were great. Evie was great as well, with an interesting backstory and a solid personality. She lacked self confidence but it was worked on thanks to Mateo. The plot was also pretty well done, no complaint. The ending might be predicted by others but I was fairly surprised. And I loved all the pop culture references. I’m really interested in finding out what the sisters’ stories are going to be like!
