I read 25% of this book, but then gave up. I spend more time rolling my eyes than enjoying the story. It was just too much of a cliché-fest of Romance Novels. We had the super pretty, shy, and slightly traumatized heroine (Autumn), the super-nice, loved by everyone, most attractive hero (Shane) and an evil, psychotic ex-boyfriend (Robert). And a new supporting character was introduced every two pages. Only one or two of them were really interesting and "supporting" the story, the other billion people were boring cookie cutter characters. (An example: The other park-ranger girl who is interested in Shane is of course a bitchy, blond-bleached girl who *gasp* reads fashion magazines and keeps tossing her hair back to make a point. Of course she immediately hates Autumn for getting Shanes attention) The heroine couldn't quite decide if she was feeling happy about her new job and life or "Oh my god, I'm so traumatized", kept emphasizing how she doesn't need another man in her life but still swooned over our hero whenever he appeared. The hero had the exact same problem. He doesn't really want a woman in his life, but why is he feeling this "strange attraction" to this new ranger-girl? Of course we had a bad case of insta-love, which both, heroine and hero, denied... Something that really put me off was Autumn proclaiming that "She didn't wanted to see a therapist about her trauma, because she didn't think a complete stranger could help her with that" Helloooo? That's what therapists are supposed to do?! I didn't stop earlier because Michelle Raven got me interested with Autumns backstory, but Robert seems to be just the same psychotic ex-boyfriend we have in most of these books. This could have been a pretty cool mystery romance if Raven just spend more time on the mystery part instead of writing various encounters of Autumn and Shane meeting, she trying to keep him away from herself, while at the same time being jealous about every female who just looks at him. Well and that's why I stopped at 25%... If someone read the whole book, is it worth to keep reading on? I feel like I know EXACTLY what's going to happen, but if this drifts off from your typical cliché-storyline, please let me know and I'll give it a second try.
