She began writing at a young age, and her works have been translated into many languages. Parsipur was imprisoned several times in Iran because of her cultural and political activities and later emigrated to the U.S. after publishing Women Without Men. Her notable works include The Dog and the Long Winter and Touba and the Meaning of Night. She received the 2016 Bita Award.
