Leslie Bruin is assigned to the backwoods township of Spar Creek by the Frontier Nursing Service, under its usual mandate: vaccinate the flock, birth babies, and weather the judgements of churchy locals who look at him and see a failed woman. Ich bin nicht ganz sicher, wie ich das Buch bewerten soll. Am Anfang kam ich nur sehr schwer rein in die Story, sodass ich, und das ist eine absolute Seltenheit, Abschnitte erst mal nur überflogen habe, um die wichtigsten Infos heraus zu ziehen. Ich hab zu Beginn keinen wirklichen roten Faden der Geschichte gesehen und mich wirklich gelangweilt, obwohl mir das Setting und die Atmosphäre gefallen haben. Auch die Charaktere fand ich alle stimmig, für mein Empfinden war es nur etwas lang, bis die Geschichte Fahrt aufnahm. Achtung Spoiler: Die beiden trans Charaktere und die T4T-Lovestory haben für mich einiges rausgeholt, die erste Sexszene in dem rohen Schreibstil des Buches war derb, aber sehr hot. Die zweite monsterfucking Szene war detailreich und jedoch ein bisschen too much für mein Empfinden. Möglicherweise aber auch, weil das Buch zu Beginn so langatmig war und mir kurz vor Ende alles etwas überrumpelnd vorkam. Die Revenge und das Ende hingegen hab ich sehr genossen. Fazit: Coole Charaktere, cooles Setting und Atmosphäre, mit einem unerwarteten Twist, hat mich jedoch nicht ganz abgeholt. In sich ist der Inhalt aber konsistent und stimmig und mag anderen Menschen vielleicht mehr gefallen. :)
