Bowen Penhallow mag es allein zu sein. Tamsyn Bligh ist seine, nun ja, quasi Angestellte. Sie ist Expertin darin magische Utensilien und Artefakte zu beschaffen und dieses Talent macht er sich zunutze. Von Anfang an ist klar, dass zwischen den beiden mehr ist als das und als sie dann unverhofft gemeinsam auf einer Hochzeit auftauchen, die alles andere als glatt läuft, geraten sie durch einen verunglückten Zauber in das Jahr 1958 - und geben sich als Ehepaar aus, um zurück in die Zukunft zu gelangen. Mir hat das Buch sehr viel Spaß gemacht, Bowen als grimmiger, bärtiger Loner, der in Gegenwart der strahlenden, frechen Tamsyn geradezu aufblüht, perfection. Das Paar hat mir außerordentlich gut gefallen, auch die Story rund um die mysteriöse Zeitreise war spannend und unterhaltsam. Für mich sogar der beste Teil aus der Ex-Hex Reihe 💖 Ein Buch, dass sicherlich nicht nur im Herbst oder zur Weihnachtszeit Spaß macht!
Ich habe mich mit Band 1 und 2 so wohl gefühlt, das ich trotz der Plotlöcher über vieles hinweggesehen habe... Aber dieses Mal kann ich das leider nicht. Denn die Auflösung hier ist einfach nur Quark und macht Null Sinn. Letzten Endes hat die Autorin ihre aufgeworfenen Fragen nicht beantwortet und damit den ganzen Sinn ihrer Geschichte über den Haufen geworfen. Am Ende hatten die beiden Lovebirds halt Sex, stellen ständig fest wie verliebt sie doch ineinander sind (wenigstens das nimmt man ihnen tatsächlich ab, weil es der Autorin gelungen ist, auf wenigen Seiten die Annäherung glaubwürdig zu erzählen) aber alles, was irgendwie auf Spannung aufgebaut war verpufft, weil nichts davon beantwortet wird. Das fand ich sehr unbefriedigend und ärgert mich auch. Es wirkt als ob Sterling selbst auch keine Ahnung hatte, wie sie das eigentlich auflösen soll und dann hat sie es halt gelassen. Dazu hat mir auch Atmosphäre gefehlt. Das Ganze spielt theoretisch um die Zeit von Weihnachten herum. Aber irgendwie kam nicht mal eine winterliche Stimmung auf. Schade, dabei war es vom Plot an sich her die beste Idee. Aber leider hat die Autorin nicht mal ihre übergreifende Handlung aus den beiden andren Bänden aufgegriffen. Alles wirkte irgendwie etwas unfertig und schnell herunter geschrieben...
