Wow! Das war eines der besten Bücher, das ich seit langem gelesen habe. Es ist intensiv, es ist poetisch, es ist stellenweise kaum auszuhalten, denn es ist nur bedingt Fiktion. Nona Fernandez (*1971 in Santiago de Chile) geht in "Twilight Zone" den Spuren der Militärdiktatur in Chile nach. Ausgangspunkt ist eine Aussage eines Agenten der Geheimpolizei, der 1984 in das Büro einer Journalistin kommt und sagt: ich möchte reden. Dieser Mann, "der Mann der gefoltert hat" erscheint auf dem Cover der Zeitschrift "Cauce", das Nona Fernandez als Teenager sieht und nicht mehr vergisst. "Twilight Zone" ist ein Roman über das Leben in einer Diktatur, in der Entführungen und das Verschwinden von Menschen zu einer grotesken Normalität gehören. Während die Bevölkerung ihrem Alltag nachgeht, arbeitet, zur Schule geht, Fernsehserien schaut, werden Oppositionelle aus Linienbussen gerissen und in geheime Folterlager verbracht. Viele enden erschossen und mit abgeschnittenen Fingerkuppen in Flüssen, Höhlen, Gräben. Tausende sind bis heute vermisst.
