I'm so glad I finally finished this series! While I didn't remember everything about the previous books, I still understood the plot easily (I might just have appreciated some details more if I had read the books closer together). In my opinion, this series is a very underrated slow fantasy series with lots of political scheming and an AMAZING representation of PTSD and addiction (especially to medication after hospitalization) and I am overall satisfied with the ending, even though some parts were predictable.
