Das Buch ist in drei Teile eingeteilt, die jeweils ein anderes Thema behandeln Destry ist Teil eines Teams das den Planeten Sask-E terraformen soll. Wie der gesamte Planet ist auch sie Eigentum einer großen Firma. Sie stößt auf eine unterirdische Stadt, die homo archaeus und anderen Leuten bewohnt wird, die vor ihrem Team auf dem Planeten gearbeitet haben und eigentlich aussterben sollten. Gemeinsam kämpfen sie für das Recht der Stadt zu existieren und sich selbst zu verwalten. Im zweiten Teil geht es um ein öffentliches Verkehrswesen, denn die Firmen, die den Planeten besitzen haben kaum Interesse daran Mobilität für Arbeiter:innen zu ermöglichen. Im dritten Teil schließlich um Vertreibung, Gentrifizierung und den Kampf um Unabhängigkeit. Immer wieder ist auch Thema: die Personen (auch Tiere und Maschinen) werden je für einen spezifischen Zweck gebaut, zu einem nicht unerheblichen Teil versklavt und bei vielen ist die Sprachfähigkeit künstlich eingeschränkt. Ein so gutes und kluges Buch, das noch dazu fesselnd ist. Unbedingte Leseempfehlung!
