Atmosphärisch, melancholisch und trotzdem nicht ganz meins…
„The South Wind“ von Alexandria Warwick hat bei mir gemischte Gefühle hinterlassen. Der Schreibstil ist wie bei den anderen „Four Winds“-Büchern eher melancholisch, aber genau das macht die Geschichte auch so reif und atmosphärisch. Man kann die Gefühle und Entwicklungen der Protagonisten dadurch sehr gut nachvollziehen. Besonders das Worldbuilding hat mir gefallen – die Welt wirkt durchdacht und der rote Faden zwischen den Büchern macht die Reihe spannend. Auch die Karten am Anfang der Bücher liebe ich jedes Mal. Die Romance war solide und die Charaktere entwickeln sich sichtbar weiter, auch wenn sich manche Stellen für mich etwas gezogen haben. Vor allem die Story rund um Prinz Baylor, die Brautschaft und die Fake-Ehe mit dem South Wind konnte mich nicht komplett überzeugen. Auch das Dornröschen-Element war nicht ganz meins. Insgesamt trotzdem ein gutes Fantasybuch mit starker Atmosphäre, das mich aber emotional nicht komplett abholen konnte. 3,5 von 5 Sternen.
