Auch wenn das Cover düster daher kommt, so ist doch ausser der Bedrohung durch das noch ferne Böse hier kaum etwas dunkel. Wir begleiten das erste Lehrjahr des Waisenjungen Will in einer mittelalterlichen Fantasywelt, mit vielen sympatischen Charakteren und spannenden Abenteuern die allesamt jugendgerecht aber nicht kindisch sind. Am ehesten hat mich die Geschichte an [b:Das Lied der Löwin|14478065|Das Lied der Löwin (Song of the Lioness, #1-4)|Tamora Pierce|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1340831709s/14478065.jpg|1142850] oder die Warrior Cats erinnert. Beides Reihen, die einen immer abtauchen lassen in fantastische Welten, ohne dass man sich zu sehr in Düsternis und Grausamkeit begeben muss. Eine Abenteuerreise zum Wohlfühlen, und ich freue mich schon die Charaktere noch 9 weitere Bände begleiten zu dürfen :) Einziger Kritikpunkt, war der Sieg über die Kruls. Die Vorgehensweise hier war so einfach, dass mir der Gedanke schon beim ersten Erwähnen der Monster und deren Schwäche klar war. Und erfahrene Waldläufer und Ritter kommen nicht drauf? War bisschen schade, hätte man geschickter lösen können...
The nostalgia of this series... Reading this again in retrospect, this is such a brilliant story, very obviously for younger audiences but man I respect it so much, it's so easy and enjoyable to read, and it's not something I'll ever get tired of coming back to. The characters in this are my favourite characters ever, it's honestly a masterpiece that everyone needs to experience. 5/5
