👥️Charaktere: 4,5/5 💕Romance: 3,5/5 🌶Spice: 1/5 🖋Schreibstil: 4,75/5 🏁Plot: 4,5/5 ✨️Setting/Atmosphäre: 4,5/5 🎉Spaßfaktor: 5/5 👥️Die Charaktere Clía, Ronan, Domhnall, Niamh und alle anderen konnten mich direkt begeistern.

„She called upon that confidence that had been second nature only days ago, and found it broken along old fault lines.

In this fun story we follow our main character Clia in a medieval fantasy setting to the most prestigious war college of the country. Inspired by Legally blonde, Clia was more interested in fashion, gossip and securing a marriage with the handsome prince of a neighboring kingdom. But as the prince breaks the news that he’s not going to propose, Clia decides to rather show him what he’s missing out on than be sorry for herself. She follows him to learn about battles, wars and weapons at the Harvard of all medieval war colleges to win him back. If men can do it, so can she. Of course she is not really welcomed with open arms but the prince‘s best friend and youngest general of all times, is not only of great help and teaches her all she needs to know about fighting but also makes for a great love interest. The story was gripping and amusing just as the movie it was inspired by. One could definitely see the parallels but it works just as well if one has never seen it. This is a fantasy setting so we overlook any too far fetched details, like Ronan being so very young but already commanding a whole territories army. The map and explanation at the beginning was very helpful but there could also have been more explaining during the story. While it is very realistic that people will be called by their first name and also their last name - especially at a college/university setting - I found this sometimes confusing because of the many names and people in general. I’m not a huge fan of training or fight sequences. But other than that I enjoyed Clias story and her development very much. I Loved most of the side characters just as much and really appreciated the causal queerness.

3.5

I have not watched the movie that was the inspiration for this story (Legally Blonde), so I am sure I have missed a lot of references. However, I still enjoyed this sweet story that comes with a lot of heart and humor. Celtic mythology meets military academy meets stubborn princess meets medieval setting - in a delightful queer normative world and featuring chronic illness rep. Honestly, that's basically all you need to know going in. If you love the above, you will love this book. I liked the characters - some of them easier to approach (like the title heroine) and some harder to understand (like the prince that refuses her). There's a sweet romance at the heart of it, and a lot of swordplay and banter. While this story wasn't groundbreaking or made my head spin, I had a really great time with it - and anything that feeds into Lady Knight Autumn is an automatic win! 3,5/5 stars Thank you @netgalley and @harpercollinsuk and @HarperVoyagerUS for the eARC! #PrincessKnight #LadyKnightAutumn #Netgalley #Bookstagram

Thank you soooo much to the author and the publisher for gifting me a free ebook arc of this book through Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. The Princess Knight is a great read for people who loved military academies, complicated romantic stories, and legally blonde. I’ve been wanting to read this book since it was still nicknamed ‘medievally Blonde’, and as a fan of Legally Blonde, all I can say is this book definitely drew the right parallels to the movie while still being original with twist and turns I didn’t see coming. Was the book a perfect read? Well no. The writing is fine, but sometimes feels a little too… much maybe? The sentences are sometimes just a tad too long giving the book a clumsy feel from time to time. Further than that, it also made the language a little flat from time to time. I also found the surnames of the two mc’s a little to close, and as they were used regularly - along with a bunch of others - it was a tad confusion. However, that doesn’t take away from the fact that I was thoroughly entertained throughout the book and not really bothered about the things mentioned above. I would definitely recommend it to other people. Overall, a straightforward 4/5 stars.
