Ich hatte eine lange Hass-Liebe mit der Ben Hope Reihe von Mariani: einzelne Bücher waren topp andere furchtbar. Nun hat er eine historische Reihe (rund un den dritten Kreuzzug) begonnen und ich wollte sehen, ob er dieses Genre kann. Die Geschichte um den Bauern Will Bowman war unterhaltsam, historisch recht akkurat aber es hat mich nicht wirklich gepackt. Wer wirklich gute Romane zu dieser Zeit lesen will, ist mit Sharon Penman besser bedient.
