This one was really hard for me to work through! In the beginning I was really excited to start The Perfect Place To Die since it was one of my most anticipated reads of 2021. The story immeditaly had great potential in my opinion but it's final way of execution has left a sour taste on my tongue. First of I couldn't quite build up a connection to Ruby and therefor I wasn't really emphasizing with the entire "bring her justice and avenge her" plot. The reason for that was that especially in the beginning the story felt pretty rushed and you couldn't get to know Ruby in detail or get a better in-depth look at her day to day sisterly relationship with Zuretta. Second thing that made this one a hard read was that, as a true-crime fan, I obviously already knew the story surrounding The Castle and its gruesome secrets, this also specifically involving who the real villain of the story was. So the book felt a little boring at times due to that. It is nice if you read it from a perspective wondering how Zuretta managed to outsmart the notorious killer from the White City. But if you're someone who really wants to read about a thrilling murder mystery AND ALREADY KNOWS THE CASTLES STORY it will probably kind of take away the anticipation-aspect for you. Be beware of that!
