Gesellschaftskritisch, verstörend, ehrlich entführt dieses Buch den Leser in die menschlichen, familiären und gesellschaftlichen Abgründe. Ich würde das Buch als Psychothriller einordnen, der sich mit der Rolle der Frau zwischen Mutterschaft und Job auseinandersetzt. Er zeigt, dass nicht jede Frau in ihrer Mutterrolle aufgeht und glücklich ist und dass die Gesellschaft sie dafür verteufelt. Der Thriller thematisiert außerdem Problematiken wie Armut, Klassenunterschiede, illegale Einwanderung und die häufig damit verbundene Ausbeutung billiger Arbeitskräfte. Er kritisiert das heutige Konsumverhalten und Verschwendung und gibt generell viele Denkanstöße. Deshalb ist das Buch wirklich sehr sehr lesenswert! Das relativ offene Ende - wenn auch von der Autorin so beabsichtigt - war für mich leider etwas enttäuschend. Man bekommt ein so gutes Bild in die Psyche der Protagonistin, dass ich mir auch ein wenig mehr Einblick in die Beweggründe gewünscht hätte, die zu der furchtbaren Tat führten. Ich erkannte die Gründe, hätte aber gerne gewusst, was der zündende Auslöser gewesen ist. Was sie dazu bewogen hat, ihrem Elend genau an diesem Tag ein Ende zu bereiten. Deshalb 4,5 Sterne.
