Nachdem mir "Out of the Easy" so sehr gefallen hat, konnte ich es nicht erwarten, wieder etwas von Ruta Sepetys zu lesen. Mir war bewusst, dass andere ihrer Bücher vielleicht nicht derart gut sein würden, aber auf diese herbe Enttäuschung hier war ich dann doch nicht vorbereitet. Scheinbar waren meine Erwartungen wohl doch zu hoch. Viel zu hoch... Denn weder die Figuren, noch die Handlung schafften es, mich zu begeistern. Die Charaktere wirkten mir alle zu flach, zu pappig und die Handlung war mir zu erzwungen. Zu sehr auf die Beziehung aus. Ich kam und kam einfach nicht in das Buch rein. Also das genaue Gegenteil von "Out of the Easy". Dabei konnte ich durch "The Fountains of Silence" vieles über Spaniens Geschichte erfahren. Ein absoluter Pluspunkt und Sepetys hat wirklich hervorragende Recherchearbeit geleistet. Wirklich schade, dass sich dies nicht auf mich übertragen konnte...
