In the beginning I found it quite hard to really connect to the story because the magic system was just so vaguely explained and a lot of questions remained.Throughout the book more things and some rules were explained but I found that it still remained a bit unclear.Especially since magic seemed to be disliked by many or even almost everyone except the practicing ones themselves but it also seemed to be present in the every day life and there even are big magic conventions. However I really liked the writing style. It was easy to read and I still enjoyed the book. The actual plot wasn't as present as it should've been and remained more in the background for most of the book. When the suspense was finally building up everything was already solved again before one could even process everything and the ending was way to quick. The characters weren't that special but I still liked them and found most of them quite sympathetic and approachable. Their personalities and problems were well thought off and well done. All in all it was an interesting story for in-between times but not much more.
