Die Gegenwartserzählung spielt in der Hütte, in der Rose unbedingt versucht verborgen und unbekannt zu bleiben. Alderson streut in diese sich entwickelnde Erzählung Hinweise ein, die schließlich zu der vergangenen Zeitlinie zurückführen. So erfährt man Einzelheiten über Roses Kindheit und darüber, wie sie Ryan kennengelernt hat , einem unglaublich wohlhabenden jungen Mann, der über bedeutende soziale Beziehungen verfügt, und diesen schnell heiratet. Je weiter die Geschichte voranschritt, desto mehr Fragen blieben offen, und ich habe ungeduldig darauf gewartet, dass ich endlich die Rätsels Lösung auf die Spuren komme. Ich glaube, das erklärt, warum ich das Buch einfach nicht aus der Hand legen konnte, weil ich Roses Geschichte so gerne verstehen wollte. Die Autorin lässt sich jedoch mit ihren Enthüllungen nicht hetzen, und ich fand es toll, dass die Handlung dadurch so fesselnd und spannend zu lesen war. Somit kann ich euch dieses Buch einfach nur empfehlen, denn es ist kurzweilig, spannend und ein richtiger Pageturner.
