It is a golden age. Intrepid hyperspace scouts expand the reach of the Republic to the furthest stars, worlds flourish under the benevolent leadership of the Senate, and peace reigns, enforced by the wisdom and strength of the renowned order of Force users known as the Jedi. With the Jedi at the height of their power, the free citizens of the galaxy are confident in their ability to weather any storm But the even brightest light can cast a shadow, and some storms defy any preparation.
When a shocking catastrophe in hyperspace tears a ship to pieces, the flurry of shrapnel emerging from the disaster threatens an entire system. No sooner does the call for help go out than the Jedi race to the scene. The scope of the emergence, however, is enough to push even Jedi to their limit. As the sky breaks open and destruction rains down upon the peaceful alliance they helped to build, the Jedi must trust in the Force to see them through a day in which a single mistake could cost billions of lives.
Even as the Jedi battle valiantly against calamity, something truly deadly grows beyond the boundary of the Republic. The hyperspace disaster is far more sinister than the Jedi could ever suspect. A threat hides in the darkness, far from the light of the age, and harbors a secret that could strike fear into even a Jedi’s heart.

Omg what just happened- Das Ende hat mich zerstört. I'm hooked now. I- I don't know what to say. Das Buch hat richtig wild gestartet, dann hat sich's ziemlich lange gezogen aber die letzten 150 Seiten ungefähr waren top. Und die letzten 10 Seiten- AMAZING Jetzt versteh ich warum die High Republic Reihe so viele Fans hat. So viele offene Enden mit Mysterien und Geheimnissen die noch gelüftet werden müssen- ich freu mich auf Band 2! Der Schreibstil war sehr brilliant. Es war total poetisch, vor allem wenn Charles Soule über die Macht geschrieben hat. Es war jedoch Recht anspruchsvoll zu lesen. Ist auf jeden Fall kein easy to read Entspannungsroman haha. Ich hab geliebt, wie die Jedi dargestellt werden und dass sie auch kurz die Vergangenheit des Ordens und Kriege angesprochen haben (obwohl sie doch peacekeeper sind) und generell sind alle Charaktere super toll geschrieben. Die Jedi, die verschiedenen Nihil und Gegner, die Senatoren, Chancellor Soh und alle Nebencharaktere. Top. Das einzige was ich manchmal noch bisschen nervig fand war, dass es die ganze Zeit an den spannendsten Stellen die POVs geändert hat und zu Ner ganz andren Location gesprungen ist 😭 sehr gemein. Insgesamt kriegt das Buch von mir 4/5 Sternen.

The world building is big but concise. The Characters feel real. Emotions, Tension, Humor - it‘s a great mix and keeps you reading chapter after chapter. I immensly enjoyed the new threat, the Nihil, hiding in the darkness colliding with the great hope, power and light of the Jedi Order. A recommendation for every Star Wars Fan!
Irgendwo zwischen 2.5 und 3 Sternen für mich. Die grundsätzliche Handlung war faszinierend und spannend. Leider kommen viel zu viele Figuren vor, die nur kurz eingeführt werden. Wahrscheinlich geht Soule davon aus, dass man sich in der Reihe um The High Republic bereits auskennt, wenn man zu diesem Titel greift. Auf mich traf dies jedoch nicht zu, sodass ich rasch den Überblick verlor. Sehr schade in einem Merchandise, das sehr figurenzentriert funktioniert. Zu Ende gelesen werden musste das Buch trotzdem, auch wenn mir viel Spass dabei verloren ging. Sehr schade.
