Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker are on a secret mission to one of the many worlds caught in the middle of the struggle between the Republic and the Separatists. A pastoral planet, Lanteeb wants only to be left alone to survive -- but it is the source of what could be one of the most devastatingly destructive weapons ever. If this potential weapon were to fall into the hands of the Separatists, uncounted worlds would fall. In a review I saw for this book it was said, that Obi-Wan would get more and more wounded throughout the book while refusing medical care. And thus I knew I had to read it. I just love it when Obi-Wan gets put in situations where he suffers. This book is part of a duology and was a wonderful start that made me excited to start the second one. The author did a fantastic job at portraying the characters and their relationships. I loved Anakin's and Obi-Wan's conversations and the way they work so incredibly well together despite being fundamentally different. Of course they clashed a few times along the mission and I found their thoughts during those times quite interesting. Obi-Wan being of course more focused on the mission while Anakin wanted to save everyone, no matter whether it would compromise their position. I found both perspectives very well done and immensely riveting. The plot itself was exciting as well. And it was fun to see them, foremost Obi-Wan, act like their undercover-personas. The author really knows how to write a compelling clone wars story and I can't wait to read the second book in this duology.
