Description
The Thief Kingdom is a place hidden within the world of Aadilor. Many whisper of its existence, but few have found this place, where magic and pleasure abound. There, the mysterious Thief King reigns supreme with the help of the Mousai, a trio of revered and feared sorceresses.
Larkyra Bassette may be the youngest of the Mousai, but when she sings her voice has the power to slay monsters. When it’s discovered the Duke of Lachlan is siphoning a poisonous drug from the Thief Kingdom and using it to abuse his tenants, Larkyra is offered her first solo mission to stop the duke. Eager to prove herself, Larkyra accepts by posing as the duke’s potential bride. But her plans grow complicated when she finds herself drawn to Lord Darius Mekenna, Lachlan’s rightful heir. Soon she suspects Darius has his own motivations for ridding Lachlan of the corrupt duke. Larkyra and Darius must learn to trust each other if there is to be any hope of saving the people of Lachlan―and themselves.
Welcome to the world of Aadilor, where lords and ladies can be murderers and thieves, and the most alluring notes are often the deadliest. Dare to listen?

🇬🇧 I found the story much cooler than I had expected. The plot may not be action-packed, but it is well paced and develops in a pleasant way. I really like the idea/concept of the story. The three sisters are the absolute highlight: each of them is special in her own way, quick-witted, and wonderfully funny. Their dynamic makes reading incredibly enjoyable. Even if you can already guess where everything is heading, the story remains entertaining and charming throughout. Übersetzt mit DeepL (https://dee.pl/app)
It was a really refreshing read. The world building was incredible , the characters charming and the romance not too much but not too little either. It is not a Romantasy, mind you. But it has a decent sub-romance-plot. The thing is tho: I didn't really care? The writing style is a bit informative and that made it hard for me to care for the characters. Also I got confused at times by who is who. Those things aside, the book was beautiful and really nice to read

🇬🇧 oh how comfortable this book made me feel. the humor, the writing, the warmth.... and someone get me that bird, please!
this was a relaxed fantasy with a splash of romance in it. And I throughly enjoyed this book. What probably blowed my mind is the world building and unique setting. The Thief Kingdom and King. And the three Mousai sisters. Incredible. Larkyra was a great lead to read about. She’s fierce and shape tongued. But also empathetic and caring. A utter sweetheart with interesting powers. Which leads me to the absolute highlight of this book: the three Bassette sisters. I suppose they grew their father some grey hairs growing up. Their dynamic and friendship made my heart full and I would have been satisfied only reading about those three girls. But we do have a love interest. Darius. The son of the Lord whom Larkyra is to marry. He was cute. But that’s it. I am surprised to ever say that, but I would have been happy, and maybe even enjoyed the book more, without the added romance. Whilst they were adorable and their banter brought me joy…. I think it took away from the interesting and unique world and dynamics that occur in this universe. But whose banter I extremely enjoyed was Niya and Alōs Ezra, the pirate lord. …and if I’m not mistaken, the next book will be about them. So I shall start with book two immediately. But to sum this up: a relaxed not too stressful fantasy with a super interesting universe, that I’m exited to read more about and amazing main characters. Definitely worth a read, and since I heard book two will be even better…. I’m intrigued. 3
