Unable to prove that she's the missing princess, and unable to bear life under Lady Tremaine any longer, Cinderella attempts a fresh start, looking for work at the palace as a seamstress. But when the Grand Duke appoints her to serve under the king's visiting sister, Cinderella becomes witness to a grand conspiracy to take the king--and the prince--out of power, as well as a longstanding prejudice against fairies, including Cinderella's own Fairy Godmother. Faced with questions of love and loyalty to the kingdom, Cinderella must find a way to stop the villains of past and present . . . before it's too late.

My heart has wings and I can fly, I'll touch every star in the sky, so this is the miracle that I've been dreaming of 💫
This book really wasn’t for me. It started with a familiar “Disney-like” feel, but the twist of Cinderella being sold completely ruined it. It felt unnecessarily harsh and didn’t suit the tone of the story. While it shows her bravery by freeing herself, the whole idea of her being sold was just too much. The writing style was overly dramatic and full of clichés. I was constantly frustrated with Cinderella as for example she spent so much time dwelling on the past instead of taking action. Some scenes felt unrealistic and disjointed, like her being homeless in a storm and then casually talking to her dog. And the predictable tropes, like a kind stranger who works at the castle and gets her a job, made the story feel uninspired. In addition the whole outcome (Cinderella and the Prince marrying) was predictable and changed nothing on the original story. I don’t really get where the “twist” was. There were a few decent moments, like the Fairy Godmother and the tension when the prince recognized Cinderella, but overall, the plot dragged and included unnecessary scenes, like the Grand Duke kidnapping her. Final Thoughts: I’m glad I finished it, but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you really enjoy dramatic retellings.
This was kind of a cute retelling of Cinderella, but it felt like it was written as a Middle Grade? If I had been maybe 12 or so, I would have loved the book. But overall, the solutions to all problems came very quickly and coThis was kind of a cute retelling of Cinderella, but it felt like it was written as a Middle Grade?
