Description

The world fell in love with her in the movie. Now, the Black Panther's techno-genius sister launches her own adventures - written by best-selling Afrofuturist author Nnedi Okorafor and drawn by Eisner-nominated artist Leonardo Romero! The Black Panther has disappeared, lost on a mission in space. And in his absence, everyone's looking at the next in line for the throne. But Shuri is happiest in a lab, surrounded by gadgets of her own creation. She'd rather be testing gauntlets than throwing them. But a nation without a leader is a vulnerable one - and Shuri may have to choose between Wakanda's welfare and her own.

This was awesome. I enjoyed this way more than Black Panther.

*read as single issues* This was an interesting first volume. After T‘Challa goes missing Shuri has to step in with everyone wanting her to become the Black Panther in his absence. In the first few issues Shuri is mostly focused on finding her brother but I liked that the focus shifted a bit more to her dealing with things that happend in Wakanda. I liked Shuri but I felt like there was a lot going on, there were a lot of appearances of other characters like Groot, Rocket Raccoon, Iron Man and Storm, and I wished there were more moments focussing on her character instead of the action. And while the covers of the series are incredibly beautiful the interior art just felt fine but not really special. Overall I liked it but I felt like sometimes there was to much going on and not enough focus on Shuri herself. I‘m still looking forward to reading the second volume. Especially because the last page was really intriguing.
