So I went into this hoping it would finally be the one… turns out it completely exceeded my expectations🙌 The story is set in the world of tennis🎾 , which already made it stand out to me. I’ve never read a tennis romance before and I loved the atmosphere, the competition & the pressure it added to the story. Now to Inés and Chloe 🥹 The dynamic between these two and their journey from rivals to lovers felt so natural. Their whole connection and development just made sense. What really made this book stand out though, was how it handled their relationship in the public eye. Because unlike so many other stories, the conflict isn’t between them. They both agree: They don’t want to keep their relationship a secret, they want to keep it private. The problem isn’t them. It’s the outside world. The media, the rumors, the invasion of privacy and even people close to them crossing boundaries, just to gain fame. Instead of turning against each other, they stand together and face it as a team. As Chloe said: "I gave them everything else, but not her."🥹💗 Another aspect I loved was the ending. In most sports romances, everything builds up to that one big win for one of the protagonists. But here? Inés loses the Grand Slam final.😳 And somehow, that made the ending even better and fitting for her character (not in a bad way). It shows that winning isn’t what defines a “perfect” ending. A character doesn’t need a trophy to feel like a winner and the story still gives you a full, satisfying happy ending without the cliché🏆 Final thoughts: Easily the best sapphic sports romance I’ve read so far. Emotional, grounded, and genuinely natural💞 Also: this is part of a series, but I read it as a standalone with no issues and I’ll definitely be picking up the other two books😌

Deshalb bin ich mit der Hoffnung rangegangen, dass dieses hier vielleicht endlich das Richtige sein wird… und es hat meine Erwartungen komplett übertroffen 🙌 Die Geschichte spielt in der Welt des Tennis 🎾, was es für mich direkt besonders gemacht hat. Ich habe vorher noch nie eine Tennis Romance gelesen und habe die Atmosphäre, die Wettbewerbsmentalität und den Druck, der dadurch entsteht, total geliebt. Jetzt zu Inés und Chloe 🥹 Die Dynamik zwischen den beiden und ihre Entwicklung von Rivals to Lovers hat sich so natürlich angefühlt. Ihre ganze Verbindung und Entwicklung hat einfach absolut Sinn ergeben. Was dieses Buch für mich aber besonders gemacht hat, war der Umgang mit ihrer Beziehung in der Öffentlichkeit. Denn anders als in vielen anderen Queer Romance Büchern liegt der Konflikt nicht zwischen den beiden Protagonisten. Sie sind sich beide einig: Sie wollen ihre Beziehung nicht geheim halten, sondern sie wollen sie privat halten. Das Problem sind nicht sie. Sondern die Außenwelt. Die Medien, die Gerüchte, das Eindringen in ihre Privatsphäre und sogar Menschen aus ihrem Umfeld, die Grenzen überschreiten, nur um Aufmerksamkeit zu bekommen. Statt gegeneinander zu kämpfen, stehen sie gemeinsam dagegen und arbeiten als Team. Wie Chloe gesagt hat: „ I gave them everything else, but not her”🥹💗 Ein weiterer Aspekt, den ich geliebt habe, war das Ende. In den meisten Sports Romances läuft alles auf diesen einen großen Sieg hinaus. Aber hier? Inés verliert das Grand-Slam-Finale. 😳 Und irgendwie hat genau das das Ende noch besser und passender für ihren Charakter gemacht (nicht im negativen Sinne). Es zeigt, dass ein Sieg nicht definiert, was ein „perfektes“ Ende ist. Man braucht keine Trophäe, um ein Gewinner zu sein – und trotzdem bekommt man ein vollständiges, zufriedenstellendes Happy End ohne Klischee 🏆 Fazit: Für mich definitiv die beste sapphic Sports Romance, die ich bisher gelesen habe. Emotional und total authentisch 💞 Außerdem: Das Buch ist Teil einer Reihe, ich habe es aber problemlos als Standalone gelesen – und werde die anderen beiden Bücher auf jeden Fall noch lesen 😌
