Elsa Dorlin, geboren 1974, ist Professorin für Philosophie an der Universität Paris 8 Vincennes-Saint-Denis. Sie gilt als eine der führenden französischen feministischen Theoretikerinnen der Gegenwart und erhielt für ihre Forschungen u. a. die Médaille de Bronze du Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique. Selbstverteidigung. Eine Philosophie der Gewalt wurde mit dem Frantz Fanon Prize 2018 und dem Prix de l'Écrit Social 2019 ausgezeichnet.

hands down one of the best and most important philosophical books i‘ve ever read. HIGHLY recommend everyone to read it. it is a social critique, deeply philosophical, feminist and antirassist. i learned sooo much and most of those things i haven‘t even thought about - which shows how important this book is. also, the last two subchapters were so healing for me, that i need a whole book about it as well. best thing i‘ve read for some time now. and definitely best book i‘ve read this year.
