Description

Cassel, komm doch mal in die Pötte!
Puh, der zweite Band hat mich weit weniger überzeugt als der erste. Es passiert eigentlich nicht viel. Im ersten Band war ich begeistert von dem Magiesystem und den Gangsterclans. Im zweiten ist beides nicht mehr neu und ich hätte mir mehr Spannung von der Handlung gewünscht. Stattdessen dreht sie sich gefühlt im Kreis und es gab mehrere Szenen, bei denen ich mich bis zum Schluss gefragt habe, wozu sie denn nun gut waren. Und Cassel macht mich manchmal echt fertig. In den krassesten Szenen bleibt er so haarsträubend ungerührt. Nicht auf eine abgebrühte Art, er wirkt eher irgendwie gleichgültig oder leblos. Und so dümpelt er mehr oder weniger vor sich hin, schiebt Entscheidungen vor sich her und macht es sich immens schwer, das "Richtige" zu tun. Ich hätte mir des Öfteren gewünscht, er würde einfach das "Falsche" tun, hauptsache, er kommt mal in die Pötte. Aber insgesamt hat es mich wohl doch genug bei Laune gehalten, um es zu beenden. Das liegt zum einen am Schreibstil, der es leicht macht, durch die Seiten zu fliegen. Und an Denaca und Sam, Cassels besten Freunden, die ich voll ins Herz geschlossen habe. 🖤 Empfehlung für alle, die sich mit Cassel arrangieren können. 😅
Mir ist schlecht, aber der Selbsthass ist mir als Gefühl der Übelkeit mittlerweile vertraut. Ich war schon früher ein Monster. Ein Monster mit der Ausrede, keine Details zu kennen und deshalb nicht richtig darüber nachdenken zu müssen. 4,25 Sterne Dieses Buch fand ich noch einen Tick besser als seinen Vorgänger, toll geschrieben, tolle Charaktere und eine Geschichte, die zu fesseln versteht. Man taucht immer mehr in die Welt der Werker ein und findet sich immer besser zurecht, das Gefühl des Verlorenseins hat sich diesmal nicht mehr eingestellt und ich bin gespannt auf den nächsten Teil der Reihe.
when i read the series for the first time, i liked 'white cat' a bit better because i found the plot and the mysteries more exciting. however, this second one is funnier and focuses more on the characters. now i realised that this book is where cassel's character really develops! and thismakes 'red glove' relatable! a protagonist who is a criminal and has magical abilities isn't relatable but a teenager who just wants to live his own life definitely is. cassel's journey is all about trying to gain control while everyone is trying to control him. his life and journey are ruled by everyone but him and everything he does is a try to break free from that. i found that fascinating because it's what this series is really about while being a fun fantasy at first glance. and i just like entertaining books where the reader can also discover something 'more'! this novel doesn't suffer from the second-book-syndrome at all, it's funny and cool and magical, it has great friendships, fun mysteries, contains both fake-dating AND getting-rid-of-bodies, and lots of fun crazy stuff overall. i'm a fan!!
