Super Beginn, toller Hauptteil, schwaches Ende
Leseempfehlung: Naja, der Anfang und den Mittelteil ja, das Ende nein Genre: Horror Cover:❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️ Art: E-Book ⚠️mögliche Spoiler⚠️ Meinung: Naomi's Room wurde mir schon sehr oft auf Insta und anderen Plattformen empfehlen. Allerdings habe ich mich einige Zeit vor dem Buch gedrückt, da es mit knapp 230 Seiten damals nicht zu meinem bevorzugten "Revier" gepasst hat. Da ich es neulich aber wieder vorgeschlagen bekommen haben, habe ich es jetzt doch gelesen. Der Anfang des Buches war super stark. Man wird sofort in eine Familientragödie hineingeworfen und bekommt hier schon mal eine grausam entstellte Kinderleiche serviert. Gleich vorweg, wer mit Themen wie Kindermord, sexuellem Missbrauch ect. nicht gut klarkommt, dem würde ich dieses Buch nicht empfehlen. Auch in der Mitte des Buches nahm die Geschichte an Fahrt auf. Es war spannend, gut zu lesen und durch den Schreibstil konnte man sich alles sehr bildlich vorstellen. Tja, und dann kam das Ende. Hier hat mich der Autor verloren. Ich mochte die Auflösung der Geschichte absolut nicht und konnte auch ehrlichen weise nicht nachvollziehen, dass der MC, obwohl er ja wusste welche Auswirkung der Dachboden und vor allem der Raum auf Menschen hat, am Ende alles was er erlebt hat quasi in den Wind geschossen hat. Deswegen habe ich auch 2 Sterne abgezogen.
Das Buch war großartig - und dann kam das Ende
Ich mochte die Schreibweise extrem und kam in das Englisch des Autors sehr gut rein. Die Geschichte hat sich langsam aufgebaut, was den Horror darin definitiv positiv beeinflusst hat. Aber das Ende? Sorry, aber das fand ich so abstoßend, dass die Geschichte in meiner Wertung leider sehr gesunken ist.
Well that was a shocking tale. Some parts made me glad that I don’t have an attic above my whole flat anymore. Children can get lost easily in a busy department store and that’s exactly what happens when the college professor Charles sets out to spend a day in the city with his four year old daughter, Naomi on Christmas Eve. The manic father searches high and low only to have his worst fears become reality, Naomi has been brutally murdered. The story is told in flashbacks from the perspective of Charles, 20 years after Naomi was murdered. After her death Charles and his grieving wife soon began to hear strange sounds up in the attic and in Naomi's room. Before long, they started to witness paranormal activity. A journalist confronted Charles with a troubling discovery. They embarked on a mission to solve Naomi's murder and determined to find the truth about the history of their house as well as source of the supernatural occurrences. While the first half is quite creepy and unsettling, the second half ramp thing up and is fucking disturbing. Especially for me, who absolutely hates children in horror books/ movies. Furthermore, the author uses every trick out of the horror box to get a chill running down my spine: whispers in the dark, footsteps in the attic above and dark figures by the bedside.
