Description

The #1 New York Times Bestseller

**A hilarious, thoughtful, and in-depth exploration of the pleasures and perils of modern romance from Aziz Ansari, the Emmy-award winning star of Master of None and one of this generation's sharpest comedic voices**

In the old days, most people would find a decent person who lived in their village or neighbourhood, and after deciding they weren't a murderer, get married and have kids - all by the age of 22.

Now we spend years of our lives searching for our perfect soul mate and, thanks to dating apps, mobile phones and social media, we have more romantic options than ever before in human history. Yet we also have to confront strange new dilemmas, such as what to think when someone is too busy to reply to a text but has time to post a photo of their breakfast on Instagram. And if we have so many more options, why aren't people any less frustrated?

For years, American comedian Aziz Ansari has been aiming his comic insight at dating and relationships, and in Modern Romance, he teams up with award-winning sociologist Eric Klinenberg to investigate love in the age of technology. They enlisted some of the world's leading social scientists, conducted hundreds of interviews, analyzed the behavioural data, and researched dating cultures from Tokyo to Buenos Aires to New York City. The result is an unforgettable picture of modern love, combining Ansari's irreverent humour with cutting-edge social science.

Simply ah-amazing. Spot on hilarious, quirky and well researched with a great conclusion which sets things in perspective also told me how lazy AF I am to not read but hear the audiobook! xD Things in the books startled me and actually helped me cope, somewhat with the idea of commitment and finding the 'one', YOU HAVE GOT TO GIVE THEM A CHANCE! As a 23-year-old and never having a relationship serious or actually being heavily involved from both sides this book was an eye opener. Also the take on social networking in our generation. I say kudos to the way it is written and of course the audiobook. For everyone and anyone struggling to find love, confused between passionate love and also believing that your 'the one' will bring in magic and lead to happiness all the time. JUST LOVE THE FREAKING BOOK! PICK IT UP AND READ IT.

Nowadays the Internet is my chubby friend. It's the whole world's chubby friend. Actual rating: 3,5 stars This was such an interesting read! Going into it, I didn't really know what the book was about (I expected a memoir tbh). The only reason I put it on my TBR list is because I enjoyed his episode of Saturday Night Live. The book took me by surprise though, in a positive way. It's well written and researched. I loved that they included dating in different countries as well! It was an educational book which offered great insights in worldwide dating.

I read this book in 24 hours. It was fascinating and funny. Ansari teamed up with a sociologist to investigate the ins and outs of the modern dating scene. He also visited Tokyo, Paris and Buenos Aires to discover if the American dating scene is unique. This is an interesting look at the rapid changes in the world of singles, dating, romance and committed relationships.

Good book, I am just not quite the target group for this, since I am not active in the dating scene.
