THE BOOK OF THE SUMMER
A girl grows up in the north-east of England amid scarcity, fearing her own desires and feeling undeserving of love. Years later, living in tiny rented rooms and working in noisy bars across London and Paris, she meets someone who offers her a new way to experience the world.
But when he invites her to join him in Barcelona, the promise of care makes her uneasy. In the shimmering Mediterranean heat, she is faced with both pleasure and shame, and must find out if she is able to change.
'Addictive, immediate, brilliant' Helen Mort
'A sharp and beguiling love story . . . Milk Teeth is a transporting, gorgeous novel' Independent

„I don’t know why there is an impulse in me that chases every good thing with a punishment, but I don’t want to feel it any more“
The writing is beautiful, the chapters short, the story pulls you in and won’t leave you. I think a lot about this book and it made me think a lot about me. I believe every woman in her 20s / 30s can relate to this main character. Her pain is my pain and her thoughts to often resembled my own. Maybe that’s why I liked this so much because I felt so understood but this was truly a look into my head and soul.
