Ich wollte es wirklich mögen, aber 1. war es kein Thriller (obwohl so angepriesen) und 2. war der Untertitel irreführend (She has almost everything. The rest she‘ll take.). 🤷🏻♀️ Ganz nett erzählt war es trotzdem, aber ich frage mich, was die Handlung sollte, und insgesamt bin ich leider einfach ziemlich enttäuscht.
i was so excited about this book, and i loved reading it! the writing had me hooked, the twist was original, however the ending did NOT do it for me sadly. i was waiting for something else to happen all the time and then the book was over. there was just something missing, and one character felt a bit too cliched and therefore annoying. what i really love about 'magpie': the blend of literary fiction - taking time to explore complicated subjects, really diving into the characters' heads - and mystery thriller - plot twist, fast paced writing, dark unsettling creepy feeling throughout - very much worked for me. i'm starting to realise what i look for in a thriller, and in 'literary' books. it might be: this.
