Machiavelli, Volume I

The Prince was written in Italian in 1513, and published in 1532 by order of Clement VII. The Art of War was probably first published in Italian in 1520. The 1560 English translation here is "The Arte of Warre" by Peter Whitehorne, "Studient at Graies Inne with an Addicion of Other Like Marcialle Feates and Experimentes as in a Table in the Ende of the Booke Maie Appere." The 1640 English translation here of The Prince is by Edward Dacres, "E.D. with Some Animadversions Noting and Taxing his Errors."
