uughhh this books falls so flat from the potential the first book promised

this might be slightly my fault bc i read book 1 a year ago and just could not remember a lot of the finer plot points, but all the characters felt so empty and their motivations so flat. the whole morgan/ arthur conflict and even more than that the morgan/ guinevere conflict felt so empty and unexplained and are these people really killing each other over just that? like yeah it all snowballs and people die and then the anger is warranted but it all starts from nothing idk. just unsatisfying and in want of character development
