What should I say? What can I say? What is burning on my soul for which I have no words and for which I search and search and search. This book carried me away - I cried silently, I cried aloud and buried my face in my pillow when I had to smile tentatively. So many words and thoughts and characters ... they all took me with them; hand in hand. They took me on a journey that probably went further into my self than I first thought. I found myself in so many aspects and it ... hurt. Hurt so much. Saenz's language is, as always, magical, full of poetry and magic. The book is quiet and loud at the same time - perhaps the eye of a storm that is too small and you fall out of it over and over again. I miss Zach and will probably never forget him; will always carry him in my heart.
Choking on my tears! The thing with Benjamin Alire Sáenz's books is that you either hate his style of writing or love it with all your heart. And if you love it like I do, you will probably never read anything more beautiful in life. I feel like I just experienced emotional trauma at the hands of a paperback. This is what 'art' is for me and I don't ever want to forget all the things that went through my head while reading his meaningful and poetic words. They can either crush your soul and bring you to tears or make you smile, give you hope and remember what's most important on this planet. That's a wonderful ability to have ♡ Thank you for creating beauty like this and sharing it with all of us. Thank you for existing, Mr Sáenz.
