Eine düstere, gruselige, einzigartige und atmosphärisch geschrieben Geschichte, gespickt mit irischen Volksmärchen und perfekt gezeichneten Charakteren. Als würde man eine alte, verstaubte VHS-Kassette mit einem aufgenommenen Horrorfilm aus längst vergangenen Tagen finden, von dem man weiß, dass man ihn sich nicht ansehen sollte.

Ich will sofort nach Irland! Das war atmosphärisch, das war creepy, spannend, liebevoll, bittersüß aber auch so brutal. Ich hab die Zeitsrünge, die zum Glück sehr übersichtlich waren, geliebt und wie sich die Story langsam zusammenpuzzlet. Auch die Idee mit der Kinderserie hat mich sehr gecatcht. Und obwohl die Story an sich langwierig ist und sich inhaltlich über mehrere Jahrzehnte zieht, war es für mich zu keinem Zeitpunkt langweilig oder überladen. Und es war so lesbisch, dass ich zwischendurch vergessen habe, dass das Buch nicht von einer lesbischen Person geschrieben wurde. Wer also Lust hat auf irische Volksmärchen mit Horror, Queerness, einer guten Mischung an Charakterentwicklung und Story mit einer Brise Gesellschaftskritik, für die Person ist Knock Knock Open Wide!
