The title "how to win friends" I personally find not so well chosen. So it is not for me in particular about how to win friends, but is the book rather a guidebook how to get along better in daily dealings with other people (and incidentally rethinks his actions, so as to come sooner to his goal). Either way, this book should be read by many more people, that would certainly avoid one or the other conflict. It definitely helped me think about some things where I didn't even realize I could act differently in certain situations to better achieve my goal or else get a desired reaction. What might sound like a small thing, but actually stuck in my mind the most: smile! :)

I've read the miniature edition first and wanted to also grab the longer one. It is still an awesome book, with more stories but still with the same overall message.

polarizing title, great principles, a classic in its category

I'd like to think of it as a collection of learings of numerous people like a wise old woman, a charismatic business man, a psychologist, ... It's great to have these 'guidelines' condensed into a book which otherwise you might only get through personal experiences (if you've lived long enough & cared about people). The title is (intentionally) misleading (and marketing) and some examples are a bit long and hard to grasp from a modern view.

At first, I thought about how trivial the principles were, which explains why it is part of the high school curriculum in some places. Then, I appreciated the low-key language and practical examples used as the principles were easy to grasp. Also, I find that many of the principles are now common sense in our day and age. The latter is understandable as the book belongs to a different era. I learned a thing or two—tremendous and easy-to-read text.

A very good book about communication with many examples from decades ago, which are still valid! What I especially liked: - Very much to the point of human relationships - So many wise tips about communication which are helpful for personal and professional relationships - I've read this book a few years ago and still many insights stick with me!

Some of the principles are more useful than others, but overall the book contains some great advice.
