Description
The battle to free Titus's camps is over, and Hopper, Zucker, Firren, and their loyal followers are working to rebuild. But the tunnels are in a state of chaos, and without the sinister peace accord to protect the rodents, Queen Felina and her growing army of ferals is a greater threat than ever before.
In the Mus Village, Pinkie has led a coup and is now ruling with an iron paw. And Pup has become cold and defiant, a change that Hopper never saw coming.
When exterminators raid the tunnels, Hopper is snatched away by the intruders and taken back up to the daylight world where he was born.
Upland, Hopper makes new allies, and as he enjoys the sights and sounds of Brooklyn, he wonders if he will ever make it back into the tunnels to restore safety and prosperity, as foretold by La Rocha's prophecy.
But why should Hopper fulfill a destiny he never wanted in the first place?

3.75 ⭐️ A great sequel! In „Mouseheart-Hopper’s Destiny“ by Lisa Fiedler we continue Hoppers journey to save the animals living in the New Yorker underground. This book starts off immediately after the events of book one and manages to keep the fast pace of its predecessor! It’s again mostly written from Hopper‘s point of view but we also get Pip‘s insight and some diary entries from the legendary „La Rocha“. I’m truly amazed by the great characterization and character development in these books. Hopper and his siblings have tremendous story arc‘s and I loved the unique spin on the „chosen one“ trope. The book deals with heavy topics in a way children can comprehend without loosing nuance. Overall I appreciated the exploration of morally grey actions and the question if the ends justify the means. I read the physical book alongside the audiobook and both are wonderful. The physical copy has many beautiful illustrations and the audiobook narration managed to immerse me even more into the story. The story had not as high intrigue as the first book for me which lead to my thoughts partially drifting in the middle part of the book. Nonetheless the ending hooked me again to see what will happen in the third book!
