Elizabeth Shaw (1920 - 1992) wurde in Belfast/Nordirland geboren. 1946 heiratete sie den deutschen Künstler Rene Graetz und zog mit ihm nach Berlin. Für viele Zeitschriften und Verlage schuf Elizabeth Shaw ihre unverwechselbaren Karikaturen. Sie illustrierte Bücher von Bert Brecht, Mark Twain, James Krüss und Astrid Lindgren. Seit 1963 schrieb und illustrierte sie auch eigene Geschichten, die inzwischen zu Klassikern der Kinderliteratur geworden sind. Für ihre Arbeit erhielt sie u. a. den Kunstpreis der Akademie der Künste Berlin und den Käthe-Kollwitz-Preis der Akademie der Künste.

My kid was obsessed with this for a while. Especially the stories about the three little piggies, the three bears and the scared bunny. I didn't really like the message of "Wie Putzi seinen Pokal bekam" (you can only win a trophy/suceed in life if your doing sports), because as a kid (and as a grown up) I really don't enjoy sports and am not sick all the time and lazy. Lent this from the library but I might buy a bigger collection of Shaws stories.
