This is my live review as I read the book. Chapter 1 Dead. 007 is dead. A photo is the proof. It shows him expensively dressed, but dead. This story takes place when they were first creating the Double-O Section:'Are you serious? What you're suggesting here is tantamount to a license to kill.' Hmm, there are still some Double-O agents left, oo8 and 0011. And there is a woman involved in the death. James Bond is a new trainee. He hasn't been promoted to the Double-O Section, or called 007 yet. The first chapter is a conversation between 2 people. They seem to tell each other what they already know, just so it can be mentioned to the reader. Chapter 2 James Bond is on a mission to test his ability to kill people. Too much detail is given about the person who needs to be killed. I started skimming the paragraphs. The writing style of this book is very elementary. It's very plain and straight to the point. That is not something I would usually complain about. It's just that this book is written by a well paid famous author, and it could have been written by almost anybody who speaks English. No fancy writing skill is shown. My mind is telling me to skip this chapter. I don't think there is a chance James Bond will fail the killing test. And this book is so straight forward, I bet in the next chapter he will get promoted to 007. The next step will be to solve the mystery of who killed the first 007. The End
