Höchst informativ und deutlich umfangreicher als erwartet
Da ich gerne über Sport und vor allem Fußball lese war dieses Buch ein absoluter no brainer für mich. Saudi Arabien (bzw. die PIF) haben Newcastle United übernommen, die Saudi Liga hat diverse Topspieler geholt und das Land ist Gastgeber der WM 2034. Aber was aus diesem Buch sonst noch hervorging ist wirklich überraschend. Ich hatte nicht mit so einer Tiefe an geschichtlichen Hintergründen des Landes oder Diskussion von Weltpolitik, Machtausübung und politischem Widerstand in Bezug auf Saudi Arabien gerechnet. James Montague als Autor hat hier all das zusammengebracht und das auf eine Art und Weise, die den Lesefluss aufrecht erhält und höchst informativ und unterhaltend ist. Leider muss ich sagen, dass mich dieses Buch allerdings etwas in Bezug auf die Entwicklungen im Sport, in Saudi Arabien und in der Politik deutlich besorgter gemacht hat als ich vorher war.
