Es startet echt super mit der typischen Highschool-Stimmung von dem neuen Mädchen gepaart mit einem Hauch von Mysterium um die Protagonistin und deren neuen Freunde. Plötzlich wird es sehr duster und spannend, was sich leider über fast das ganze Buch zieht und somit echt zäh wird. Von dem Ende brauche ich nicht anfangen. Nicht mal die Hälfte fand ich lesenswert und kann es leider nicht weiterempfehlen.
Also ich weiß nicht, das hat sich alles in eine Richtung entwickelt, die ich ganz schrecklich fand... Es war gut geschrieben und ich habe es auch zu Ende gelesen, weil ich wissen wollte, wie es mit Sofia endet. Aber ich hab mich zwischendrin schon leicht gequält. War von der Story her nicht so das Richtige für mich.
Böse Mädchen, böse Mächte. Dieses Buch überzeugt mit einer starken Handlung! Meinung Knall Pink! Das ist das Cover von die Unbarmherzigen und lässt auf einen quietschigen Mädchen-Roman schließen. Aber halt, da ist ja noch ein Pentagramm und oh, es ist falsch herum und es ist böse. Oh ja, furchtbar böse! Nix mit quietschen! Blut, Blut und noch mehr Blut! Das Cover hat mich leicht verrückt gemacht und ich frage mich, ob es anderen auch so geht? Ich hatte leicht Angst, das Buch während der Bahnfahrt als Kerl zu lesen aber ich war mutig und habe es dennoch getan. Wunderschönes Cover! So simple. Ach ja, alles “Gelbe” ist Gold. Ich schwärme mal weiter über die Kulisse, die fast nur aus einer bestand. Nämlich aus einem Haus, welches in einem lahmgelegten Baugebiet, wenn ich mich recht entsinne, steht. Einsam und Verlassen und so gar kein Ort für pinke und schöne Mädchen, wie diese. Ansonsten war da noch die Schule, von der ich auch nicht mehr weiß, wie sie heißt, falls das erwähnt wurde. Das ist aber unwichtig. Fakt ist, Danielle Vega wusste genau, welche Orte sie für ihren Roman brauchte. Und genau so liest es sich auch. Es wurde nichts dem Zufall überlassen. Entkommen? Unmöglich. Sofia ist die zentrale Figur im Roman. Sie ist neu und versucht sich an der Schule etwas zu integrieren. Beim Essen stößt sie auf Brooklyn und Chris. Der erste Kontakt zu Schülern an dieser Schule ist geknöpft. Sofia hatte bereits mehrfach die Schule wechseln müssen, weswegen es für sie nichts Neues war, wieder mit neuen Leuten auszukommen. Freundschaften waren nicht ihre Absicht, lediglich gutes Auskommen und nicht alleine sein. Riley, Alexis und Grace sind die schönsten Mädchen auf der Schule. Eine Clique, die förmlich danach schreit, sich auf die neuen zu stürzen und sie fertigzumachen. Ein Klischee, an dem sich in diesem Buch nicht bedient wurde. Der Spieß wurde umgedreht und so haben sich Sofia zur Freundin gemacht. Die Charaktere, die Danielle Vega erschaffen hat, waren nicht sehr tiefgründig. Es war eher eine Oberfläche, an der an manchen Stellen tiefer gekratzt wurde und an manchen nicht. War aber auch an dieser Stelle nicht nötig, da die Handlung das nicht erfordert hat. Zumindest habe ich das so empfunden und mich daran nicht gestört. Klar gibt es ein paar Stellen, an denen man sich vielleicht mehr Tiefe gewünscht hätte, um es besser nachvollziehen zu können, aber das hätte sich wieder auf das gesamte Buch ausgewirkt. Es war gut so, wie es war. Geschrieben hat Frau Vega das Buch in einem leichten Stil, nichts Anspruchsvolles für Leseratten wie mich. Ein paar Kraftausdrücke hier und da haben noch mal einen guten Charakter erzeugt, der hier sehr gut reingepasst hat. Auch die amerikanischen Südstaaten Akzente hat sie versucht mit hineinzuziehen und es war auch gelungen. Es war einfach zu lesen und rutschte quasi einfach so vor den Augen davon. Das Buch war anfänglich sehr Klischee behaftet, weswegen ich kurz gezweifelt habe, ob es auch wirklich das Richtige war. Aber enttäuscht wurde ich nicht, die Handlung wurde dann noch richtig böse und derbe. Damit habe nicht mal ich gerechnet, auch wenn ich schon gehört habe, dass dieses Buch wohl sehr kranke Züge haben soll. Tja, ist so gewesen und ich bestätige. Meine Ekel-Toleranzgrenze war an manchen Stellen echt überreizt. Allerdings hat es mir auch genau aus diesem Grund so gut gefallen. Es war anders, es war böse und.. ich glaube, ich habe mein Jahresfavorit gefunden! Es ist schon wieder ein Buch, welches eigentlich farblich zu einem Mädchen passt. o_O Bewertung Ein klasse Buch mit einer mehr als ausreichenden Handlung. Ich hoffe nur, dass diese Geschichte nicht durch eine Fortsetzung verschandelt wird. Das hat dieses Buch nämlich nicht nötig. Es ist perfekt so und abgeschlossen. Zumindest sehe ich das so. Selbst der Klischee belastete Anfang sei verziehen. Ich erkläre es auch hiermit feierlich zum Jahresfavorit. Garantiert ist dieser Titel allerdings noch nicht, das Jahr geht noch etwas länger. Verdiente fünf von fünf Schreibfedern. Holla die Waldfee! Oder Diabolo, Diabolo.. Fazit Meiner Rezension ist nichts mehr hinzuzufügen, ich hoffe, dass nicht nur ich so empfinde. Schon das auffällige Cover hat meine Neugier geweckt, und der Klappentext hat sein Übriges getan. Doch was mich dann zwischen den Seiten erwartet hat, hat mich komplett gepackt. Der Schreibstil ist so fesselnd, dass ich das Buch kaum aus der Hand legen konnte. Die Geschichte ist schockierend, überraschend und gleichzeitig unglaublich spannend aufgebaut. Man wird immer tiefer hineingezogen, ohne genau zu wissen, was einen als Nächstes erwartet, genau das macht den Reiz aus. Ein intensives, düsteres Leseerlebnis, das definitiv im Kopf bleibt. Umso bedauerlicher ist es, dass die Fortsetzungen der Autorin nicht auf Deutsch verfügbar sind.
Things I liked °this book is like a trashy horror movie and they just have something about them, don't they? °it was incredible engaging: I flew through this and directly picked up the second one because I wanted (to know) more °the exorcism aspect. I love horror centered around that topic. Is that weird? Probably Things I disliked °there's n0 real substance to it, which isn't necessarily bad but my emotional connection to a book is what I base my ratings on °the unnecessarily gory discriptions. Everyday and minor injuries were discripted with such detail that is just wasn't nice. For example: the opening scene is the main character picking her fingertips and an overly long discription of that drawing blood and ripping the skin away followed - This book is just gore and gross, which isn't somethimg I *enjoy* reading about. Concluding thoughts I would recommend this if you're looking for a trashy, gory horror movie in novel form. Before deciding to read this you should know if you're okay with reading about violence and death that happens to both humans and animals.
The look of this book was the main reason why I bought it. I mean just look at it - it's hot pink. How cool is that? Without reading a short summary of the book I thought that - because of the pentangle - that the book might be about witches. But than I noticed that that pentangle was upside down so I quickly found out that this book isn't about witches - it's about demons, exorcism and the devil. And in combination with that awesome look of the book there was no question of buying it. Now, after I finally finished the book I have to say that I really liked it but still I've expected a little bit more. The story begins with Sofia on her first day at a new school. Immediately she meets Riley, Grace, Alexis and Brooklyn. While Riley and her two best friends Grace and Alexis appear as nice, pretty, and polite girls Brooklyn seems to be kind of insurgent and insubordinate. Riley, Grace, Alexis and Sofia become friends and Riley starts telling Sofia all things she needs to know about the school and the people who go there. That's when Sofia finds out that Brooklyn used to be a friend of Riley too but that she's changed and now Riley is trying to get her back on the straight and narrow and she askes her new friend Sofia for help. Sofia, who's happy that she already found some new friends, agrees to help her. The first few pages of the book are already nerve-jangling. The book holds anything from mutilation via exorcism through to torture. Very quickly the reader finds out that Riley and her friends aren't that innocent as they seem to be. A mean prank quickly turns into a real nightmare with no escape - and Sofia is right in the middle of it. The story definitely causes goosepumps at some point. But I do have to say that at the beginning I didn't like the book that much, at least not as much as I've expected. But as soon as I was halfway through the story it got really thrilling and interesting. When you start reading the book you kind of get the impression that the book is just about some girls playing a really mean prank on some other girl they don't like but as farther you get it turns out to be so much more than just that. Without telling too much about the story there are many scenes in the book that are totally shocking and scary, cruel and just merciless. At some point I tried to imagine how the book could end and I was really curious what the whole thing really was about and the story got really really exciting. And at the end, I finally got what I've expected of this book. The end was terrific, gripping and totally disturbed. The protagonist aren't very profound but I don't think that people could relate to such disturbing protagonists anyway so I didn't really care that they just were kind of superficial. You get to know the girls a little I guess, the book tells the reader some things about their past but that is basically it. The writing style wasn't that special either. It's harsh sometimes when it comes to all the things they do, like the exorcism and stuff but otherwise it's just pretty simple without any detailed descriptions. There is some strong language in this book but that's fine since it's a book about exorcism and I guess the language is just supposed to be like that. Even though I wasn't sure if I would like the book and even though it wasn't like I've expected the story to be I was really surprised by the end and I did like it. This book wasn't made for people with bad nerves and people who don't like horrorstories and stuff shouldn't be reading this one either I guess but I thought it was kinda good. It's brutal, cruel and merciless but for my liking it could have been a little bit more cruel. Just to scare me some more because I wasn't really scared while reading the book, I was more like disgusted or sometimes.
this was on of my first books that i truly enjoyed back in early middle school. it had suspense, drama, thrill, supernatural elements, religion but in a sort of examination way, and the writing is honestly very good. it’s very digestible and easy to understand. i think this book is a great entry book to anyone that doesn’t read, but wants to try it and is also into thriller/horror/supernatural kind of stuff. cultish vibes also but not in the way you think.
