When Joanna "Jo" Ephron (also a first-year student and aroace) created their "Sincerely Wanda" account, it wasn't at all meant to be taken seriously. But now they might have a rivalry of sorts with Wendy's account? Oops. As if Jo's not busy enough having existential crises over gender identity, whether she'll ever truly be loved, and the possibility of her few friends finding The One then forgetting about her!
While tensions are rising online, Sophie and Jo grow closer in real life, especially once they realize their shared aroace identity. Will their friendship survive if they learn just who's behind the Wendy and Wanda accounts?

Dieses Buch hat mich sofort überzeugt als ich dieses unglaublich schöne Cover gesehen habe. Die Geschichte ist genau das, was ich aktuell irgendwie brauchte 🥹 und meiner Meinung nach das beste Buch zum Thema AroAce, was ich bisher gelesen habe (ja, auch besser als Loveless von Alice Oseman - obwohl ich das auch sehr mochte 🫶🏼). Dieses Buch hat mich so oft zum Giggeln, Nicken und Mitfühlen gebracht. Die Freundschaft zwischen Jo und Sophie ist so schön, dass es fast weh tut. Ich habe mich sehr in Sophie wiedergefunden. Ich möchte die Figuren in diesem Buch einfach umarmen. ❤️ Ganz ganz ganz große Empfehlung und Liebe für dieses Buch! Mein absolutes Mai-Highlight. Lest es bitte 🙏🏼
Eine richtig schöne Geschichte mit zwei tollen aroace Hauptcharaktern!
Ich habe dieses Buch auf Instagram gesehen, als Bücher mit aroace Charakteren vorgestellt wurden und hab mich direkt ins Cover verliebt. Nachdem es Ewigkeiten auf meiner WuLi war, habe ich es nun endlich gelesen und es ist einfach eine super schöne Geschichte mit guter aroace Rep. Jo und Sophie mochte ich echt gerne und auch die Idee mit den Instagramaccounts fand ich super. Meiner Meinung nach, hätte es ruhig noch etwas länger sein können, weil ich die Geschichte nicht verlassen wollte. Werde mir defintiv das physische Buch holen und irgendwann rereaden. Der Schreibstil war super angenehm zu lesen, sodass man nur so durch die Zeilen geflogen ist. Absolute Empfehlung für alle Personen, nicht nur aroace oder queere Personen!
I've been anxiously waiting for this book to come out since last year. There aren't many books with aroace characters, much less good ones, thus I was nervous that this one would be lackluster as well. Luckily it wasn't. It's incredibly heartwarming and overall a lot of fun to read. I loved that the two main characters had their own friendgroups and I thoroughly enjoyed their dynamics. I'm also glad that the drama with their instagram accounts didn't take over too much and that their friendship didn't suffer. They acutally communicated and thus the drama was quite quickly resolved. Sometimes talking acutally solves problems, some fictional characters don't seem to know how to do that :) To summarize, this one of the best books I've read last year. I need more books without romance. I loved their friendship and I hope to see more books like this in the future.
* 3,5 stars This was a really fun read for me, partly because I have a tiny connection to Wellesley because I know someone who went there, and I’ve even slept in one of the dorms, so the setting felt extra real lol. Also, this book feels kind of rare in the best way. You don’t often see aroace characters, especially as main characters, so I really appreciated that! It was also just… cute. I love books that focus on friendship, and that’s definitely one of the strongest parts here. I also liked the mixed formats: text messages, Instagram posts/stories, etc. fit the college setting really well. However, the different POVs sounded way too similar, and I often couldn’t tell whose perspective I was reading without checking. It got a bit confusing. Some of the discussions felt a little pretentious at times, but I kind of let that slide since they’re literally in gender studies classes and part of an aroace club, so it makes sense to have these discussions in these settings. The characters felt pretty childish. I mean, they’re 18 (which honestly shocked me. I thought they were more like 21), so it does make sense, but I think I’m just not really the target audience. Still, I expected them to act a bit more mature sometimes, considering they’re in college. Jo especially annoyed me at times like when they didn’t want their friends to be in a (possibly) happy relationship?? Overall, I enjoyed it, mostly for the vibes, the friendship, and the representation, even if some parts didn’t fully work for me.
Das Buch war ein sehr ruhiges slice if life artiges Erlebnis. Trotz dem Drama zwischen den Freunden war alles sehr harmonisch und es war schön solchen besonderen Freundschaften beizuwohnen. Die Chats waren sehr kreativ und haben das ganze zwischendrin nochmal aufgelockert. Jo's struggle mit ihrer Identität und ihrer Angst vorm allein sein war sehr gut nachzuvollziehen und es war herzerwärmend wie sie in Sophie ihren Soulmate gefunden hat.
This book reminded me why representation matters. As someone who is also aroace, it means a lot to me to see similar experiences and struggles represented, to feel actually seen. I also loved how this book is bascially a typical YA romance story, including a conflict you see coming from the first page, just platonic. I always want to have more platonic love stories, more stories that explore the broad possibilities of human relations, more stories about people connecting in different ways. Because platonic love can entail as much miscommunication, fears, and attachement as romantic one. And it can be just as beautiful and heart-warming. This book is cheesy, full of queer and BIPoC representation and wonderful friendships, and it's the love story I didn't think I needed but I did.
