Sam doesn't take much interest in Nick, a surprisingly cute single dad, when he first moves in next door. Sam ist 26 und steckt fest: Die Pandemie hat ihre Pläne durcheinandergebracht, ihre Situationship entwickelt sich nicht so wie erhofft und zu allem Überfluss schläft sie im Büro der Wohnung ihrer Mutter. Für sie ist klar, dass sich etwas ändern muss und das am besten schon gestern. Nur wie? Auftritt Nick: fast 40, alleinerziehend und seit Kurzem Sams Nachbar. Eigentlich hat sie kein Interesse an ihm. Doch wie geht man sich aus dem Weg, wenn nur eine dünne Wand zwischen einem liegt? Das hat mich nicht überzeugt. Wenn überhaupt, konnte ich Nick noch am meisten abgewinnen. Sam fand ich meist eher anstrengend. Ich hatte das Gefühl, dass sie fast nur am Jammern ist, wirklich groß was geändert hat sie aber nicht. Auch die Beziehung zwischen den beiden konnte ich nicht nachvollziehen. Das ging alles viel zu schnell – von 0 auf 100 in nicht mal fünf Seiten. Was ich ganz cool fand war ihre Liebe zu Comics. Oh, und dass Nick ausnahmsweise mal ein Normalo war und nicht der gestählte Adonis wie in allen anderen Büchern. Aber das hat das Buch leider auch nicht mehr gerettet. Ich würde jetzt einfach mal behaupten, dass man nichts verpasst hat, wenn man es nicht gelesen hat.

Damn, i was so excited for this book, but that was just not it. The main character was just miserable for 90% of the book. No character growth in sight, just a 20-something year old wallowing in her own misery and latching onto the first guy that gave her an ounce of attention. Speaking of the guy, I couldn‘t have cared less for the romance in this book. It felt like they were neighbours and all of a sudden they were in love?? Where was the buildup?? The chemistry?
