"Brotherhood in Death" ist Buch Nr. 42 rund um die Polizistin Eve Dallas. Den ersten Roman der Reihe habe ich gelesen, andere als Hörbuch gehört, d.h. Die Protagonisten und ihre Hintergründe sind mir bekannt. Ich erwartete also kurzweilige Unterhaltung und war überrascht, dass ich zunächst keinen Einstieg in das Geschehen fand, obwohl es mit einem großen "Knall" begann. Doch die erste Hälfte des Buches zog sich. Personen verschwanden, wurden gesucht, andere wurden intensiv befragt, gesucht, erneut befragt,... Zu viele nicht klar abgrenzbare Figuren und zu viele Dialoge erschwerten mir das Lesevergnügen. Die zweite Hälfte wurde zwar spannender, doch hier konnte mich die grundlegende Idee, die nach und nach aufgedeckt wurde, nicht überzeugen. Alles wirkte zu überzogen und zu emotionslos. Schade, ich befürchte, diese Reihe hat ihren Reiz für mich verloren. Robb hätte zu einem früheren Zeitpunkt entweder einen Schlussstrich setzen oder eine völlig neue Entwicklung einbringen sollen (und müssen). So hat die Serie einen Stillstand erreicht und Eve Dallas ist nur noch eine Polizistin von vielen geworden.
