Das Buch stand schon länger auf meiner Liste, da ich den Film bereits kannte und interessiert war wie sich das Buch lesen würde. Besondere Freude hatte ich an den kleinen und großen Geschichten von Edwards Leben, ausgeschmückt mit fantasievollen Details die jede Geschichte zu einem kleinen Märchen gemacht hat. Auch gefallen hat mir die Beziehung zwischen Vater und Sohn, die sich im Verlauf seines Sterbens entwickelt und die beiden auf eine außergewöhnliche Weise naher zusammenbringt. Normalerweise habe ich wirklich Probleme damit Klassiker zu lesen, weil sie meist durch ihren Schreibstil schwer zu verstehen sind. Big Fish war anders, die kleinen kurzen Kapitel passten sich wunderbar in die Handlung ein und regten die eigene Fantasie auf eine Weise an, die sich nur schwer adaptieren lässt. Dies macht das Buch zu einem tollen Roman für ein gemütliches Wochenende.
