Eines muss man Mallory lassen: egal, wie schlimm es auch aussieht, sie gibt nicht auf. Alles scheint über ihr zusammen zu brechen, aber trotzdem will sie das Haus ihrer Tante nicht aufgeben. Nicht nur sich selbst will sie beweisen, dass sie das schaffen kann, sondern auch ihrer Familie. Es ist spannend zu sehen, wie sie auf Mickey und Nick reagiert. Lange weiß man man nicht, wie es da weiter gehen wird. Auch wenn es Mallory nicht bewusst ist, wächst sie über sich hinaus und schafft Dinge, die vorher unvorstellbar waren. Ich habe da meinen größten Respekt, dass sie trotz aller Schwierigkeiten nicht aufgegeben hat und daran gewachsen ist. Jedoch steht sie sich aufgrund ihrer Erfahrungen auch öfters selbst im Weg. Auch wenn es verständlich ist, dass sie nach allem einfach nicht wieder verletzt werden und sich selbst schützen will. Eines zeigt sich aber sehr gut: reden kann helfen um Missverständnisse zu verhindern und zu klären. Aber auch, wie sehr man von dem Verhalten anderer geprägt werden kann. Man erlebt mit Mallory ein ständiges auf und ab und es wird nie langweilig. Aber man merkt auch, dass man auch ein paar Umwege gehen kann um ans Ziel zu kommen und daran zu wachsen. Manchmal hilft es auch, wenn man Unterstützungen von Familie und Freunde hat, die einem im Falle auch mal in eine Richtung schubsen, wenn man zu sehr abweicht. Das Buch ist voll von Humor, Liebe, kleine und großen Dramen und tolle Charaktere, aber auch Trauer und Verlust ist ein Thema. Gerne hätte ich noch mehr Zeit in Mallorys verbracht und erfahren, wie es weiter geht.
