Trapped in the mansion of a sinister magistrate, Chih and Almost Brilliant must learn what happened in Baolin when the famine came to call, and they must do so quickly... because the things in the shadows are only growing hungrier.
The Singing Hills Cycle has been shortlisted for the Lambda Literary Award, the Locus Award, and the Ignyte Award, and has won the Crawford Award and the Hugo Award.
The novellas are standalone stories linked by the Cleric Chih, and may be read in any order.

Der neuste Teil dieser wunderbaren Reihe
Chih und Almost Brilliant finden sich in Baolin wieder, wo vor einigen Jahren eine Hungersnot herrschte und sollen hier diese Geschichte dokumentieren. Chih findet hier gutes Essen, aber auch viel Misstrauen und wird Zeuge einer sehr verstörenden Geschichte über Dämonen und Magistrate. Endlich ist ein neuer Teil dieser fantastischen Reihe erschienen rund um Chih und Almost Brilliant. Diesmal bewegen wir uns im Mythos der Dämonen und dunklen Seiten der Menschen. Eine gelungene Ergänzung der Reihe im gewohnten feinen Stil, aber nicht ganz so überzeugend wie die anderen Teile. Hier fehlte mir etwas die Tiefe. Aber nächstes Jahr kommt bereits ein weiterer Teil heraus, worauf ich mich freue. Empfehle jedem mal in diese Reihe hineinzuschauen - es ist egal bei welchem Teil man anfängt, sind alle unabhängig voneinander zu lesen. Die Stimmung und die Welt, die Vo hier entworfen hat, sind äusserst gelungen.
