A Future for the Past

Nowhere else can the beauty of islamic architecture be appreciated as clearly as in the Old Town of Cairo. Thanks to modern research and the successful preservation of historic monuments carried out by the German Archaeological Institute Cairo, this architecture can now be presented for the first time to a broad public with numerous large-format illustrations and plans. This richly illustrated book is published on the 100th anniversary of the Institute's foundation in Cairo.
